The watchword of Cambridge At Home (CAH) is foresight.
Hope is not a policy. The aim of Cambridge At Home is to provide
strong, practical mechanisms to help members remain confidently
in their Cambridge homes as long as possible—rather than
move to a retirement community. CAH creates,
for the community of member households, the convenience, reliability,
and efficiency of a CAH headquarters to help arrange services
in such areas as transportation, health, social activities and
home maintenance.
As
with all forms of insurance—any step to plan for an orderly
and secure future—one cannot buy it once the damage has
been done. Crises, where people need a lot of help quickly, cannot
be predicted. People never know for sure whether their needs are
in fact covered by their present resources. People sell their
homes, downsize their possessions, and move to retirement communities
isolated from their familiar surroundings—in advance of
need—lest they be, later, too ill to be admitted. CAH coordinates services so that its members do not have to go through the turmoil and
loss of leaving their homes, while providing reassurance not only
to members, but also to their families.
CAH is an opportunity to participate in building and running a
self-help organization necessary because people are fitter
and living longer.
The idea is to build the enterprise before you need it. Come join us in this exciting venture!
