Robots and Beyond, MIT
Are robots friendly or menacing? For years, scientists at the famous Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at MIT have been exploring how to build intelligent machines. Now you can get a behind-the-scenes look at how their research has progressed. “Robots and Beyond,” a multimedia exhibit at the MIT Museum, traces the development of sophisticated robots that can understand language, learn, and act.  In a tour designed exclusively for Cambridge At Home, members will be personally welcomed by Dr. John Durant, Director of the MIT Museum, and a hear a presentation by Dr. Deborah Douglas, Curator of Science 
and Technology. Space is limited, so sign up soon.  Free and open to CAH members and their guests.

Writers’ Circle, The Cambridge Homes, 360 Mount Auburn Street
A series of 6 writing workshops will meet twice a month through November to review the basics of narrative-based writing (memoirs, fiction, creative nonfiction) and receive feedback on personal writing.  Open to CAH members only.  Nonrefundable fee of $90 per person for the series.  Limited to 10 participants.

Bring a friend to the CAH Open House where s/he can discover the benefits of membership. If each member brings one new household into CAH, the organization will reach the 350 households needed for viability.

Yoga For a Healthy Back Trial Class, Village Fitness Studio
Sandra Uyterhoeven, a yoga therapist and teacher certified by the Krishnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation (KHYF), will lead a class focusing on back pain for CAH.  Sandra is a yoga therapist in the Pain Management Department at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. CAH members are invited to attend a free introductory class and to sign up for a paid series of classes if interested. CAH members only.

Come celebrate the start of CAH’s second year at the Talanian Cultural Hall of the Holy Trinity Armenian Apostolic Church at 145 Brattle Street.  Off-street parking is available. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Free and open to CAH members only.

Day-Long Excursion to Hartford, CT
Alice DeLana, who delighted CAH members with her tours of the museums at Yale and the Fogg Museum here in Cambridge, will lead our trip to Hartford.  We begin our tour at the Wadsworth, the oldest public art museum in the United States.  Following lunch at The Russell, the museum’s newly redesigned restaurant, our group will visit the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington where we will hear about the museum’s history, architectural significance, and the lives of Hill-Stead’s original occupants.  Nonrefundable fee of $100 for members and $125 for non-members.

Learn How to Use Our Online Bulletin Board, CCAE, 42 Brattle Street
Volunteer webmaster Robbie Burnstine will help CAH members learn to use our new bulletin board, created in response to members’ requests for an online venue.  Members can exchange ideas, recommend books, exchange travel tips, post notices for unusable theater or concert tickets, and communicate easily with each other by email. Free and open to CAH members only.

Watch the race with Cambridge At Home on a balcony overlooking the Charles!  Light brunch will be served.  Open to CAH members only.  Nonrefundable fee of $25. Limited to 10.

A series of five classes focusing on back pain will be taught by Sandra Uyterhoeven, a yoga therapist and teacher certified by the Krishnamacharya Healing Yoga Foundation (KHYF). Sandra is a yoga therapist in the Pain Management Department at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.  In a research study of her class at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, participants reported statistically significant improvement in back pain intensity and functionality. Nonrefundable fee of $100 for members and $150 for non-members for this series.

Demystifying Health Care Options for People with Medicare, Mt. Auburn Hospital 
Blue Cross Blue Shield Senior Plan Consultant Heather Hurd will discuss topics including: Medicare, Part D prescription coverage, Medigap, Medicare Advantage, programs to assist with drug costs, and avoiding the late-enrollment penalty. A SHINE counselor from Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services will be there as well to talk about the insurance counseling services they offer and answer any other questions members may have.  A light continental breakfast will be served.  Free and open to CAH members only.
