NOTE: Reservations are required for all activities, including grocery shopping, exercise classes (please call at the beginning of each month to reserve your space for the month), interest groups, and outings, whether or not there is a charge. Interest groups, exercise
classes, and the grocery shopping service are free and for Cambridge At Home members only. Please call the office, 617-864-1715, to reserve your place. CAH trips are fee-based and require reservations and nonrefundable payment in advance. Trips and events that are open to guests of members are marked. Grocery Shoppers need to reserve spots 48 hours in advance.

Writers Circle with new instructor Michelle Seaton, 360 Mount Auburn Street $ Sign up for our July Writers Group sessions and see if the group is a good fit for you! Our new instructor Michelle Seaton is an award-winning journalist, NPR reporter, and coauthor of several fitness and health books. Seaton is also the lead instructor and created the curriculum for Grub Street's Memoir Project, a program that offers free memoir classes to senior citizens in Boston neighborhoods. Tour of CAH member Barbara Norfleet’s new exhibit at the DeCordova Museum followed by Lunch and free time to explore the grounds $ In her exhibit, Landscapes of War “Norfleet juxtaposes found, hand-painted photographs of botanical specimens with cropped test prints of her poignant black and white images of high-security, Cold War military sites from the 1990 portfolio”(decordova.org). Following our tour, we will eat in the café and have time to explore the grounds or visit the gift shop. Meet at the Charles Hotel. Open to CAH members only. Limited to 12. Nonrefundable fee of $30. Guided tour of Historical Scientific Instruments followed by Lunch at Greenhouse Cafe, Harvard Science Center, 1 Oxford Street Curator Dr. Sara Schechner will guide us through the collection which contains over 20,000 objects dating from about 1400 to the present. A broad range of scientific disciplines are represented, including astronomy, navigation, horology, surveying, geology, calculating, physics, biology, medicine, psychology, electricity, and communication. Local Event of Interest: Fresh Pond Walkabout organized by Friends Of Fresh Pond, 250 Fresh Pond Parkway Chip Norton, Cambridge Watershed Manager, will give a tour of Fresh Pond Reservation's conservation and recreation areas. He also will use maps and diagrams to help illustrate the goals for this major restoration project. Free and Open to the Public. Meet at Water Purification Facility front door. Charles River Boat Tour $, Cambridge Side Galleria Enjoy an hour cruise around the Charles River Basin as the Captain points out the most historic sights of Boston and Cambridge. Seaton is also the lead instructor who created the curriculum for Grub Street's Memoir Project, a program that offers free memoir classes to senior citizens in Boston neighborhoods. This is a six-session series that begins in August and continues through October with an option to continue past that point. Nonrefundable fee of $90 for the six-session series. Open to CAH members and Cambridge Homes residents only. Limited to 10. |

Tour of the John Adams Courthouse Followed by Lunch at Scollay Square $ During the hour-long tour, we will view several points of interest, including the magnificent Great Hall, the Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. Courtroom, the Social Law Library, and the beautiful courtroom of the Supreme Judicial Court. The current exhibits are entitled "John Adams: Architect of American Government" and "Sacco and Vanzetti: Justice on Trial." Following our tour we will head to Scollay Square for lunch. We will travel by subway. Meet at Harvard Square Station, downstairs next to the ticketing machines. Open to CAH members and their guests. Nonrefundable fee of $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers.
